Who We Are
Sustainable Health for Women Initiative (SHeWI) is a dynamic nonprofit and social enterprise committed to delivering gender-responsive health solutions that promote climate resilience and empower women and girls.
We recognize that access to quality health care and sustainable practices are key to transforming communities. By focusing on the unique health needs of women and girls, especially in vulnerable settings, we help create lasting change that benefits not just individuals, but entire families and communities.
At SHeWI, we believe that when women are healthy, informed, and empowered, they become catalysts for growth, resilience, and prosperity in every aspect of society.
Why We Do What We Do
In North Central Nigeria, women are the backbone of rural farming and household well-being. They rely on agriculture not just for food, but as a source of income to support their families’ health, nutrition, and education. When climate change disrupts farming through floods, droughts, crop diseases or erratic seasons it directly impacts women’s income, threatening the nutrition, healthcare access, and overall stability of the entire households.
By supporting women to adapt, lead, and thrive, SHeWI helps safeguard not just individual health but the strength of families and communities.
